“Mixing Americana, alt-rock, and a folk-pop sensibility, the song showcases Ellis’ talent as a singer-songwriter as she recounts a childhood memory of being left alone under a willow tree for long stretches of time, where she felt as if she was in the care of the tree itself.”--GLIDE MAGAZINE "Sweet Georgia," is a powerful and autobiographical track that draws from her roots in Savannah, Georgia. The song recounts a childhood memory of being left alone under a willow tree for long stretches of time, where she felt as if she was in the care of the tree itself. This poignant memory is transformed into a triumphant anthem of self-reliance, psychic abilities, and an unwavering love for nature and the gifts that solitude can bring.
Ellis is thrilled to feature these musicians (see above) on the record she co-produced with her longtime collaborator, Giovanni Loria, who also contributes on acoustic and electric guitars. This single marks the first release from her upcoming album, Edge of the World, set to debut in early 2025, ushering in an exciting new chapter in Ellis's continually evolving musical journey. ARTIST QUOTE ON THE SONG: “ I wrote 'Sweet Georgia' after realizing I had a recurring memory of being left alone as a baby in my crib under the willow tree in our backyard. My mother used to tell me that she would leave me out there for hours, needing a break as a young mother with another toddler at home. This memory was unsettling to me, so I decided to explore it and turn it into something positive, something that reflects who I've become because of it. Writing about it in my journal felt therapeutic, and eventually, it became a song.”
