The Mexican Standoff on NPR's Alt-Latino with Felix Contreras

The all-female Mexiamericana band has created an homage to Texan music legends and the rich heritage of Mexican American musical culture. Featuring collaborations with Grammy-winning icons Flaco Jimenez and Los Texmaniacs, the album captures the spirit of Texan border music infused with a punk attitude and a fresh female perspective.

<<I hate to sound like a broken record but this week's episode reflects such a wide swath of expression as to render the term 'Latin music' almost meaningless: electronic ambient from Mexico; a vocalist from Spain who is impossible to keep in one category; a Latina country vocalist; mariachi meets Mexican regional; accordions and ballads; and a few surprises. Come along for sonic ride. You will not be disappointed.
